Smart Light Devices is a privately held company registered in Scotland and operating in the United Kingdom. The aim of the company is to commercialize Optical Sensor technologies for the Oil and Gas and Marine Markets, with the aim of becoming the leading niche developer of cutting edge real-time analyzers to Oil and Gas sensor and inspection markets.
SLD will provide high added value to these markets with real-time, high-sensitivity, and accurate analytical hardware that is on the leading edge of the sensing and inspection analyzer technology required by the Oil and Gas industry.

The founding Director is Dr Ala Al-Obaidi, a leading scientist in the field of applied opto-electronics who, along with other colleagues, believes that the time is right to capitalize on his acquired know-how.

The SLD mission is to be recognized as the world leader in developing on-line optical sensors for commercial application in the Oil& Gas industry.
Through its people, the company already has a reputation for innovation and plans to use its team of world class engineers in the field of applied opto-electronics to create a business that leads the way in the commercialization of real-time sensing analyzers for industrial markets, mainly in the Marine and Oil & Gas industries.
In the oil industry, the demand is for tools that can inspect defect in the oil and gas pipelines, mooring chain and other related objects particularly in murky and deep water. Whereas Marine industry is concern with the monitoring of environmental pollutants caused from leaked oils and other toxic chemicals.
SLD will align itself with a small number of key strategic partners in its target sectors with direct access to the end user and their needs.
