The company Smart Light Devices is based in Aberdeen and has been in operation since 2000. Our main aim is to bring awareness of the optical sensor technologies we engineer for use in the oil and gas and marine markets. We provide high added value to these markets with real-time, high-sensitivity, and accurate analytical hardware which is leading the way in the sensing and inspection analyzer technology required by the Oil and Gas industry. We have been fortunate enough to work alongside some of the major international companies associated with the subsea sector and continue to do so by producing cutting edge ideas and solutions. We understand that the best, most effective products are developed by listening to our customers and we pride ourselves on being able to see things from their point of view. Input from our clients has gone a long way in helping create some of our most ground-breaking solutions and our mission for our products to become the most powerful analytical sensors is rapidly becoming a reality. Our founding Director is Dr Ala Al-Obaidi, a leading scientist in the field of applied opto-electronics who, along with fellow colleagues, believes that the world of subsea technology has been waiting on the precipice to embrace SLD’s bespoke solutions.
The vision Our mission is to be recognized as the world leader in developing online optical sensors for commercial application in the Oil& Gas industry. Through its people, the company already has a strong reputation for innovation and plans to use its team of world class engineers in the field of applied opto-electronics to create a business that leads the way in the commercialization of real-time sensing analyzers for industrial markets, mainly in the Marine and Oil & Gas industries. We will strive to assist the marine industry in their aim to monitor environmental pollutants caused by leaked oil and other toxic chemicals. Equally, we hope to assist in the oil industry in terms of providing a range of inspection tools able to pinpoint defects in pipelines and other related underwater objects.
