Novel CCD camera has been developed by SLD for the extreme underwater inspection. This is a highly sensitive camera with a high resolution coupled with high power 6W led-array, specifically designed for water with very low visibility.
The detection Level is about 100 billion times more sensitive than a so called sensitive ROV camera. This SLD camera requires less than 10 photons per pixel per second whereas 0.0003 lux ROV cameras required a minimum 400,000,000,000 per pixel per sec to be seen.
This technical achievement where do to the capability to cool the CCD chip down to -100oC using Peltier and fully controlled with an embedded pc operate at 1 GHz.
