Laser Leak Detection system
Following on from the highly successful LDS1 and LDS2, this new, more robust Laser Leak Detection System, which can be used with an eyeball ROV, has decreased dramatically in size, weight and power consumption allowing for more precision, range and depth. Classified as an eye safe class 1 laser, the LDS3 contains a number of health and safety features and has a depth rating of 3000m. This new model allows for very small leaks to be detected up to 20m away from a target and the multi-wavelength options available on this new device allow for enhanced detection through a wide range of hydraulic fluids, leak detection dyes and tracers. At shorter distances, it is capable of finding minute leaks in the parts per billion range (ppb). The LDS3 is supplied with pan and tilt stage for wide scanning as well as easy-to-use data logging and display software. This software allows for automatic leak detection alarms to be set warning the pilot of an ROV when a leak is present. The LDS3 marks the third version in this series of leak detection systems which have been used successfully in a wide range of subsea inspections carried out by companies including Shell, BP, Exxon Mobil, CNR to name but a few.
