Case Studies So we can fully explain what it is we do we have included case studies and some short video clips to show some of our equipment in operation. Please browse through and have a look. If you would like to know more about how our systems work then please email us at info@sldltd.com
Product: 3D Laser Imaging Location: Angola Date: 2009 What happened: A riser pipe at 1200m deep under water has been hit by an object resulting in bending and damage on the surface. SLD are being asked to perform a 3D scanning operation over the damaged pipe and provide a mechanical 3D drawing for repairing purposes.
Product: 3D Laser Imaging Location: Nuclear Power Plan, Netherlands Date: 2008 - 2009 What happened: Critical cooling parts on a medical nuclear plant were damaged and ageing. SLD’s 3D scanning over the internal of the 42" cylinder shape parts had been carried out with a resolution of 1mm. Our client was highly satisfied with the fast and reliable technology using the 3D Laser Imaging system. Damaged parts were repaired with equipment that was specifically engineered according to the reconstructed 3D model. SLD is grateful that we were able to help bring back the medical nuclear plant that will now save thousands of lives.
Product: Laser Leak Detection System Reference by: Kevin O’Carroll, Project Manager, Block 18 IRM, Subsea7, Luanda, Angola. On the two occasions where SS7 sought assistance from SLD on the Angolan based Block 18 Life Of Field project (once for the hire of a leak detection systems and once for development and hire of a laser scanning system) SLD responded immediately to our needs and were available at all times to deal with any queries we had. SLD was flexible to our changing demands and delivered both equipment and personnel on time against agreed schedules.
Product: Laser Leak Detection System Reference by: Craig Matheson, Project Manager, Subsea7, Westhill. It has been sometime since we last used the SLD equipment. This has been largely due to its effectiveness. When we’ve used the system it has been particularly effective at detecting very small leaks from a very long range. The system has located all major leaks and they have now all been repaired. If we were to encounter the need to locate a leak in the future we would have no hesitation in contacting SLD with a view to using their equipment.
Product: Laser Leak Detection System Reference by: Kevin Kyle Paton Oakes, Project Engineer, PMT11, Technip UK Limited. I can confirm that the LDS1 tool was not used offshore for the Shell Corrib project, as our leak test passed at the first attempt, therefore unfortunately I cannot comment on the operational capability of the tooling. The service provided by yourselves was good and in particular the flexibility you allowed us during the mobilization phase. Additionally the two personnel you provided during the mobilization to provide basic training / overview of the LDS1 system were extremely helpful and knowledgeable and provided the ROV with a clear overview of how the system worked, the safety aspects and the likely faults. Many thanks for your assistance.
Product: Laser Leak Detection System Reference by: George Gair, Inspection Project Coordinator, BP West of Shetland Projects, Subsea7. I have been involved with several projects utilizing the SLD laser leak detection system and each time is has delivered, detecting minute leaks where other systems had failed. The support in setting up the procedures and follow up of technical queries was also excellent. I would have no hesitation in utilizing SLD again.
